Chapter 45
A/N Ignore the dates on the invite. That’s the date of the actual wedding. It takes place right after Casey’s award on April 15th. I picked that date because that’s when the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom. Time is irrelevant in my story. Things happen when they happen.
Now this part may upset some of you. This chapter is meant to be interactive. If you’re on Facebook, you can go to The Chuck Book Club: Lord Rapier where you’ll find pictures of places and people I describe. You will also find the music I cite.
Now, don’t get too upset. If you’re not on Facebook, you’ll still enjoy the story in full. It’s just a little added Visual and audio enhancement. In any case I hope you all enjoy this chapter as Charah heads into a new phase of their relationship.
Oh yeah, no attacks on the White House by enemy agents. This chapter is a celebration.

Chapter 45:
Wedding at The White House (part 1)
The ceremony
The Oval Office
Chuck is headed towards Casey’s room to get dressed for his ensuing wedding. He’s almost there when a man in a blue sports jacket, white shirt, Blue and red striped bowtie, and gray slacks approaches him. “Good afternoon, Mr. Bartowski. I hope you were pleased with your partner’s ceremony. My name is Helm, feel free to call me Matt. I’m a special assistant to the President. He asked if you might spare a few minutes for him.
He’s waiting in the oval office for you.”
Chuck smiles and moves to step around him. “Yes, it was very nice. However I do have a wedding to dress for…”
Helm holds his hand up and smiles, “I understand Sir. The President assured me if you’ll give him a few minutes he promised not to start the nuptials without you.”
“This isn’t a request, is it?”
“I’m sorry Sir? I don’t understand. Of course it’s a request, but… he is the President.”
Chuck smiles and nods his head, “Lead me the way.”
Chuck is taken to the same office that Casey was in not that long ago. The woman behind the desk looks up and picks up the phone. “Mr. President, Mr. Bartowski is here. Yes Sir, I’ll send him right in.”
“Sir The President is waiting, right through that door.” She points.
Chuck nods, thinking. Okay I get it someone is putting me in my place. He opens the door to find Frank sitting behind his large desk. He picks his head up, “Be with you in a moment Chuck, have a seat. Just putting finishing touches on my part of your wedding.”
Chuck gives him a smile , Right out of the manipulation handbook. He looks at the seats available. Ignoring them and the “command,” he starts to stroll around the room. I really didn’t have a chance to look around last time. He looks at the art, sculpture, and the design on the carpet in front of the President’s desk. The eagle faces to the right where it’s gripping the olive branch. Indicating honor and peace. Frank looks up, “You seem restless my friend.”
Chuck walks over to stand in front of the large desk. “No, not restless, just wondering why the Commander-In-Chief summoned me to his office right before my wedding.”
“Summoned? That seems a little harsh Chuck.”
Chuck turns, walks over to take a seat on one of the couches. “Mr. President, we both know I’m not here as your friend. Why don’t we get down to business so you can stop holding my family hostage.”
The President walks around from behind his desk and takes a seat in the only single chair in the room. He takes a deep breath in and blows it out. “Okay, you caught me. But you have to admit you’ve been avoiding me.”
“You mean today, on my wedding day. After you upset my sister with your obsession over my father’s work. You’ve had weeks to reach out to me.
My mother works for you, you see her every day. But you waited till today. A day when you believed you would have leverage on me.”
The President sits quietly eyeing Chuck. “I guess I’m lucky Sarah isn’t here. I do seem to have a way of upsetting you.”
“Your luck doesn’t depend on Sarah’s location. It’s all about how she’s treated. My guess is, she would be upset if she knew what’s going on right now. So why don’t we get past this part. I suppose you have a blacked-out SUV waiting to whisk me off to a black site.”
Frank’s eyebrow’s go up, “Do you really think I would do that…on your wedding day, on any day?” He leans back, “Okay, I guess I had that coming. Is there some way we can past this unpleasantness and back to our friendship?”
Chuck smiles, “No, I don’t think you would do that. Joyce would kick your ass. Sarah would finish off what’s left. Then my team would rescue me.”
Frank laughs, “And you say I have the power.” He takes a deep breath. “I’m sorry, I keep forgetting who I’m dealing with. I’d also have to hire a food taster. Master Chief would not be happy with me either.”
“Frank, what’s so important that you would interrupt the happiest day of my life?”
Frank leans forward his elbows on his knees, his hands outstretched in front of him. “When you say it that way, it makes me realize what an ass I am. The only thing that would cause me to do that is national security. Chuck, it’s my job, my obligation.”
“Like I said Frank, you’ve had all kinds of time to reach out to me. You waited until you thought you had leverage. I don’t see any need to waste your effort. Let’s talk.”
“Gretchen warned me not to get into a scuffle with you. Okay, you know what I want. I want the Intersect.”
“That’s easy, you have me. Have I failed you? When you needed me, was I there?”
“Damn, is it your intent to make me feel like more of an ass? Is that any way to treat a friend?”
“Hey, I was on my way to put on my tux, you pulled me in here. I don’t have what you want. Because you are my friend and more, I’m going to be honest with you. If I had it, I wouldn’t give it to you.”
Frank leans back and puts his hand over his eyes, “I’m listening.”
Chuck leans forward. “I take it you read the reports on Fulcrum, The Ring and Shaw. You know how destructive the desire for the technology is.
Shaw was one step away from destroying democracy. He killed my father, almost killed Sarah and was about to kill me. My sister saved my ass.” Chuck sits back. “I trust you Frank, I really do. If I didn’t have Casey, you would be my father figure. The guy I would reach out to when I need guidance.”
Frank shakes his head, “Jeez, you really know how to rub it in. Chuck, I feel the same way. But I have a job. I was entrusted to protect democracy. I can’t let other countries get the intersect ahead of us. I don’t have the luxury of letting my personal feelings block me from performing my duty.”
Chuck nods his head. “I get that, let’s say I had access to what you want, hypothetically. I do trust you. I know in my heart that you’ll always do the right thing.”
Frank smiles, “Thank you for that.”
“Frank at the most you’ll be the President for another six years. Two years from now, you have to run again. Who’s going to be the next President? After you, who am I trusting with this tech? Hypothetically speaking if I had it. For all we know it could be some narcissistic blowhard who doesn’t believe in the constitution. Someone who wants nothing except to grab as much power as he can. Someone willing to bend down to those who want to destroy democracy. I also want to be clear. Who I am, what I can do, that knowledge leaves Washington with you and Diane.”
“I get it, I hear what you’re saying. You have my word. Your secret is safe. It’ll be your option who knows. You also know that the Chinese are trying to steal Ellie’s work.”
Chuck laughs, “The only thing Ellie’s work will tell them is how to avoid headaches. As to the other countries that are trying to recreate the intersect… I’ve already released a virus that will continue to wipe any and all coding that’s even close in nature. I’ll be alerted if that happens. I’ll pass that info on to my mom and Diane. I’ll be updating that software on a regular basis. Maggie wasn’t able to determine who did the wipe, but together we figured out how it was done. We were able to create a virus based on that.”
Frank shakes his head and laughs. “I should have known. How about you call me directly. That way I know we’ll talk now and again, no matter how busy we get. Joyce said that you and Sarah would never let me down. She was right. Sorry to delay you.”
Chuck looks at his watch, “No delay, as a matter of fact I allotted another ten minutes to our talk. But I don’t consider this topic to be our only connection. You’re family.”
The look on Frank’s face is one of pure astonishment. “Allotted? As in you knew I would be bringing you in?”
“Well I was hoping for a friendlier invite, but yes. I know you to be a man of integrity. I knew you would do what you thought to be the right thing.
There is one final note I’d like to add. Talk to me, I’ll always be straight with you. Mess with my family…” he shakes his head… “there aren’t enough Secret Service agents to stop me.
Ellie’s okay. You know she was with me when Shaw gunned our father down. I’m guessing she wouldn’t mind a dance with the President in the way of an apology.”
Frank sighs, “I am sorry, it was never my intent to upset her, or you. Any chance Joyce doesn’t need to know about this conversation?”
Chuck stands up, “Why would you not want her to know that you asked me in to give us your good wishes. Isn’t she cleared for that. I’m pretty sure she isn’t cleared for the other discussion?”
They both stand up and Frank hugs Chuck. “I have no idea how other president’s managed without Bartowskis in their corner, thanks. I’ll be sure to apologize to Ellie.”
The Lincoln bedroom
Sarah walks into the Lincoln bedroom where Gretchen and Zondra are waiting to help her get dressed and made up. “About time you got here, we need to get you ready.”
Sarah lets out a deep sigh. “I know Z, I appreciate you being here.” Suddenly Sarah throws her arms around Zondra and starts to sob.
Gretchen puts her arms around both of them. “What’s up Sis?”
Sarah shakes her head, unable to talk. She starts to breathe in heaving breaths. “I love him so much. I can’t believe this is happening for me.”
The door opens and Ellie walks in. “Hi, need any help? Alex said she’s sorry, but she’s watching the kids, Morgan is helping Chuck.” She sees Sarah and joins the hug. “Sarah, what’s wrong?”
Sarah turns and throws her arms around Ellie. “Nothing is wrong. I’m so happy. Your brother is the best man in the world. I know we’re already married. But this time it feels real because you’re all here. My family is here. I have a family. I have friends. You three and Alex, are going to be the best aunts ever.
Ellie pulls back and looks into Sarah’s eyes. “Okay little sister, time to have the talk.”
Sarah looks at her puzzled. “Ellie, you know Chuck and I have… um… been together for a while.”
Ellie laughs, “Not that talk, sit.” Sarah sits down. Ellie sits near her and takes her hand. Gretchen and Zondra stand behind Sarah, listening intently. “Sarah, I love my brother, he’s a wonderful man. He’s gentle, caring and giving.” Sarah nods. “He’s also scared, he’s terrified of losing you, and insecure in many other ways.” Sarah opens her mouth to speak. “Let me finish. I know you love him and are committed to him. I know he loves you. I know you adore each other. I also know you’re on a honeymoon that will end.
Things happen. Scary shit happens, life hits hard sometimes. In those moments, when fear and anger rear their ugly heads, that’s when you need to remember to breathe. You’re two very different, independent people. You will have friction, that can make things heat up quickly. Then you’ll throw gas on the fire in the form of kids.
I love Devon with all my heart, but there are times… let’s just say there are times. When you make this commitment, as you said, in front of us, your family, make sure you mean it. Always remember that you chose this to be your life. Running isn’t an option. You might also remember that as much as I love you, and I love you lots. If you hurt my brother…” Ellie smiles, she stands up, “Now Little Sister, give us a hug. Time to get you ready.”
Sarah hugs Ellie hard, “Ellie, I hear you, loud and clear. When I get scared, lose my way, I know who to come to for good advice. Now help me clean up this mess I made on my face and get me dressed. My man is waiting for me. I don’t want any hassle about my wedding dress or what’s under it. It’s what I want. It’s my gift for Chuck.”
The State Dining Room
While the wedding party is getting ready, the guests file out of the Rose Garden towards the East Garden Room. They file past a sign that reads, “Please check all recording devices. Professional videos will be made available.” Pages check each person as they file out of the Garden. Anyone not on the list is escorted to an exit. More than one reporter tries to get through. Secret Service agents are on high alert at the entrance to the Dining room. All Id’s are verified again, and everyone is wanded. It was all done when they entered the White House initially and as they entered the Rose Garden.
However, alertness goes up when alcohol is involved. The agents were instructed not to interfere with a good time but be ready. They’re to offer assistance for anyone who overindulges. They also take cell phones and check them, offering a numbered ticket for later retrieval.
Master Chief Child has pulled out all the stops. While the wedding party prepares Waiters are circulating the dining room with appetizers. Veggie Pizza bites no olives, Miniature tamales and Burritos, Sizzling shrimp, Crab puffs, vegan Chinese dumplings with hoisin sauce , vegan mini eggrolls, pigs in a blanket, tiny cheeseburgers.
A buffet table is covered in cold favorites. Steamed shrimp and crab legs with cocktail sauce, Caviar, and toast points. Chicken Liver pate’ with crackers, A lovely relish tray. Crudités with hummus, Ranch and French onion dips, and much more.
A waiter passes Casey with a plate of crab puffs. He grabs one and reflectively puts his finger to his ear. He mutters under his breath, “Damn you
Bartowski.”
Master Chief Dressed in a white jacket and checkered chef’s pants. His hat stands tall giving away who he is. He speaks sharply to the Head waiter. “Keep an eye on things. Make sure there’s plenty of food and watch the bar, keep it stocked. Especially the kiddie bar, plenty of juice boxes. I want them to feel special. These guests are very special to me. I hate to tell you what happens to the man who lets me down.”
“I’ve got you covered Chef. I won’t let you down Master Chief.”
“Good man, I’ll be in the kitchen prepping dinner. Yell if you need me.” He walks off towards the kitchen checking things as he goes.
The guests are eating and chatting about Casey’s ceremony. They’re also discussing expectations for the wedding. It’s not a large gathering but the energy level is high.
Special assistant to the President Matt Helm, enters the room and speaks loudly. “Excuse me folks.” The noise level remains high. He waves his arms and Yells, “EXCUSE ME FOLKS.” The chat dies down, and the guests all look at him. “Thank you for your attention. The President has asked me to invite you to join him in the chapel. The ceremony will begin shortly. Please follow me.” He turns and heads out the door leading the crowd to the chapel.
The White House Chapel, Washington D.C.
Moving to the chapel the small group of friends and family fill the seats. The front row has been reserved for immediate family and members of the wedding party.
The president takes his place in front of the gathered group of family and friends. The White House Chapel is filled with the sound of people chatting. He holds his hands up and the crowd quiets. “Good afternoon, Let me tell you a little about my plans for our economy…” The crowd stares at him. He smiles and they break into laughter.
“What did you expect would happen when you put a microphone in front of a politician?” The crowd laughs. “However, This is not about me getting votes. I’ll leave that task to the IRS.” The crowd laughs again.
“Today we’re here to celebrate the forever joining of two people that I love and respect. We all know that Chuck and Sarah are… shall we say… an unconventional couple. To that end, Sarah has asked to come down the aisle first. She says that Chuck has spent enough time waiting for her, it’s her turn to wait. Chuck wisely chose not to argue with his wife.” The crowd laughs. “However, he did choose the song that she will walk down the aisle to “Please rise and greet the bride.”
General Beckman in full dress uniform, strides down the aisle. She walks to the front of the chapel does a sharp about face. In a commanding voice “Honor Guard Fall in.”
She waits as Commo followed by the six-man echo team walk towards her, all in dress blues, Sidearms on their hips. To most people it’s seen as part of the pageantry. Those in the know understand that they’re part of the protection detail. They line up in front of her, and halt. “Honor Guard, assume your positions.” Beckman turns to the right.
Alternating sailors turn left or right, take three paces to the chairs in front of them and halt. Facing the people in their seats. Beckman calls out, “Honor Guard, About face.”
Making sharp turns on their heels the Honor guard turns to face each other.
The string quartet begins to play The Wedding March. The flower girls Clara and Molly walk down the aisle spreading Multi-colored rose and gardenia petals, preparing the way for the wedding party. Then they walk over to April sitting in the front row. She hugs them both, “Girls you look so beautiful, and you did such a good job.”
The Best Man, Morgan, and the Matrons of Honor, Alex, and Ellie, walk down together. The ladies end their walk standing to the right of the President’s position, Morgan to his left.
The ushers: Devon Woodcomb, Seely Booth, James Kirk and the brides, ladies in waiting; Mrs. Sawyer, Zondra and Gretchen enter the room side by side and walk to the front. They also bracket the President, ladies to the right, men to the left. facing the attendees.
Morgan Junior and Little John in their little tuxedo tee shirts, toddle down the aisle. They’re carrying the rings, that Casey had made on the Ford, on pillows. Morgan takes the ring from MJ. Ellie takes the ring from LJ. April calls from the front row, “Come to me boys.” The boys run over to her. She hugs them. “Good job boys.” Clara and Molly engage the twins, helping them sit next to them. April watches as the girls look after their little cousins.
Sarah appears at the head of the aisle Casey and Emma on either side of her. The guests murmur about how beautiful Sarah is. There are many saying how handsome Casey is in his full-dress uniform, sword at his side.
Comments are made about how gorgeous Emma is. They remark that her and Casey would make a lovely couple.
There are murmurs about how unconventional Sarah’s gown is. A simple white cotton floor length robe design, pleated, with a cowl instead of a veil. Her face perfectly made up. Not a lot of makeup. Just enough to accent her natural beauty.
The cowl frames her face like a soft white halo. A belt around the waist cinches it in to show off her hourglass figure. It’s reminiscent of Princess Leia’s robe in Star Wars.
The music changes and a singer begins her song. Sarah smiles and Casey offers his arm. She takes it and they start to walk down the aisle towards The President. Emma holds her right hand.
Baby hair with a woman’s eyes
I can feel you watching in the night
All alone with me and we’re waiting for the sunlight
When I feel cold, you warm me
And when I feel I can’t go on
You come and hold me
It’s you and me forever
As they walk down the aisle Sarah hears the words Chuck has chosen for her to hear. Yes Baby, always I’ll always be there to watch over you, to hold you, forever.
Sara, smile
Oh, won’t you smile awhile for me, Sara
If you feel like leaving, you know you can go But why don’t you stay until tomorrow?
If you wanna be free
You know all you got to do is say so
I know I’m not your prisoner, you promised me I never would be. I promise you I’m not going anywhere. You’re stuck with me forever and a day.
And when you feel cold, I’ll warm you
And when you feel you can’t go on
I’ll come and hold you
It’s you and me forever
Sarah begins to cry, I know it Chuck, I know you’ll always be there to hold me.
Emma glances over and sees Sarah’s tears. I can’t believe how beautiful you’ve grown. How full of life. I owe Chuck so much; he rescued my daughter from a life of sadness.
Sara, smile
Oh, won’t you smile awhile for me, Sara
Sara, smile
Oh, won’t you smile awhile,
Sara Smile
Oh, won’t you smile awhile for me, Sara
Oh, smile awhile
Won’t you laugh, Sara
So thank you for making me, make me feel like a whole man
Not keeping me crazy, crazy
Smile awhile, oh
Sarah smiles wide as the tears run down her cheeks. My smile is yours forever. Whenever I look at you, think about you, when you hold me. I can’t help but smile. You’re the best man in the world; my Chuck.
Arriving in front of the President, Casey hugs Sarah and kisses her cheek. He whispers in her ear, “Thank you for this honor. Remember I’m not giving you away, just loaning you to him as long as he’s good to you.” Sarah smiles. He walks off to the side and stands near the string quartet. Unseen he picks up a microphone.
Emma hugs her, “I can’t believe I have you back. I owe Chuck so much, he’s a good man. You’re so beautiful, my daughter. I’m so happy for you.” Emma kisses Sarah then sits down in the front row next to April and the children. LJ jumps onto her lap.
Sarah is standing, nervously, in front of the President at the front of the chapel, filled with Family and friends. The President announces, “Sarah has chosen the song that Chuck will walk down to. It will be presented by a very special friend of the couple.”
The music begins as Chuck arrives at the top of the aisle, Mary at his side. He looks around and smiles as he sees all of his family turning around waiting to watch him walk down the aisle.
He looks over at the Widescreen TV mounted to the side and sees that all of his online pals made it. Watching the private, live stream from their homes. Maggie did a great job setting the streaming video up, ensuring that it can’t be recorded. They’re all watching: Captainrick, tiggerhk, AwesomeCasey, Harakan, ParaDocs, ddbadger, fasteddie, Michael Broadhurst, Mpeter, BRJacket, Petemedina, Wilf21, Chuck fan 81, ReadernotAWriter, dnkgal, Richard76310, Katie Langville, Frank Suppa, Chainguns, Vsm440, grcommanderbat1, Lonny J, Frank Suppa, phathead01, Tim Tester, Doug Seeds, RDT50, Timber63, 2old2write, ChckvsFourSeven, CliffM, DennisAA, michael 1962, Wingdude, Joerg F, Bob J, WadeDT.
It’s too bad someone had to stay behind to run the company. Remington Steele, Eve Brooks, Laura Holt, and Maggie Mae wave at him from the screen. Momma, Poppa, and Jeffrey are watching too. He smiles and waves back. Looking at the screen again he does a double take when he spots Hartley, Vivian, and Mrs. Winterbottom waving at him. I’m so glad they’re together.
His smile grows wider when he spots Mei-Ling Cohen and her family waving at him from their seats. Looks like Diane brought Roan Montgomery as her plus one. Wow, what a day.
The string quartet plays a few bars of a familiar song. The singer begins; “Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da, Batmaaan!”
Half the group cracks up laughing including Sarah and The President. Chuck shakes his head, trying to hide his laughter. The other half look at the laughing people puzzled.
The singer stops and steps away from the microphone. After the first few instrumental notes a familiar voice begins to sing. Sarah, Chuck and the guests turn, shocked to see John Casey singing. Sarah picked the song, but she had no idea Casey would be singing it.
Now I’ve had the time of my life
No, I never felt like this before
Yes, I swear, it’s the truth And I owe it all to you
Chuck, still in shock, hearing Casey singing, starts down the aisle. Mary holds his hand tightly.
‘Cause I’ve had the time of my life And I owe it all to you
I’ve been waiting for so long
Now I’ve finally found someone to stand by me
Sarah looks at Chuck then at Casey with the mike in his hand, she wipes a tear from her cheek. I don’t deserve this, I just don’t.
We saw the writing on the wall
As we felt this magical fantasy
Now with passion in our eyes
There’s no way we could disguise it secretly
So we take each other’s hand
‘Cause we seem to understand the urgency
Chuck walks down the aisle his legs trembling, How… how could I possibly have earned this, a life with this incredible woman? He turns briefly to Casey and smiles. Casey winks, nods, and continues singing.
Just remember
You’re the one thing
I can’t get enough of
So I’ll tell you something
This could be love, because
I’ve had the time of my life
No, I never felt this way before
Yes, I swear, it’s the truth
And I owe it all to you
Chuck is nearing Sarah. Oh my god, I don’t know if I can keep standing. My knees are shaking. I love that man so much, this isn’t real, it’s a dream.
Hey, baby.
With my body and soul
I want you more than you’ll ever know
So we’ll just let it go
Don’t be afraid to lose control, no
Yes, I know what’s on your mind
When you say, “Stay with me tonight”
Just remember
You’re the one thing
I can’t get enough of
Chuck looks across the room into Sarah eyes and smiles. He looks to his right and winks at Beckman. She winks back and smiles.
So I’ll tell you something
This could be love, because
I’ve had the time of my life
No, I never felt this way before
Yes, I swear (yes, I swear), it’s the truth And I owe it all to you
‘Cause I’ve had the time of my life
And I’ve searched through every open door
‘Til I found the truth
And I owe it all to you
Chuck and Mary finally arrive in front Of Sarah. Mary hugs him. “Charles, you be good to that woman. She’s the best thing that ever happened to you.”
Chuck smiles and kisses his mother’s cheek. “I will Mom, I promise.” Mary walks over to sit next to Emma in the front row. Clara gets on her lap.
Mary takes Emma’s hand and squeezes it, “I love your daughter, my son is lucky to have her.”
Emma squeezes her hand back and smiles. “We’re both very lucky mothers-in-law.”
Chuck steps up to stand opposite Sarah. Tears streaming from both of their eyes. Sarah puts her hand in back of Chuck’s neck and pulls him in for a kiss. A long passionate kiss.
The president exclaims, “Whoa you two, we’re not at that part yet.”
The guests laugh, Casey continues to sing.
Sarah embarrassed, softly says, “Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Mr. President you need to hurry up, or this could get really embarrassing.”
Frank whispers, “Shhh let the song finish, John has been practicing for weeks.”
Now I’ve had the time of my life
No, I never felt this way before
Yes, I swear, it’s the truth And I owe it all to you
I’ve had the time of my life
No, I never felt this way before
Chuck and Sarah hold hands and stare into each other’s eyes. Chuck mouths, “I love you.”
Sarah sobs and mouths, “I love you, too.”
Yes, I swear, it’s the truth (it’s the truth) And I owe it all to you
‘Cause I’ve had the time of my life
And I’ve searched through every open door
‘Til I found the truth And I owe it all to you…
The song ends and Morgan turns to Casey and starts clapping, “THAT’S MY DAD.”
The assembled loved one stand and face Casey applauding, Including Sarah, Chuck, and Frank.
Casey waves his hands motioning everyone to sit down. The room quiets.
The President of the United States looks at Chuck and Sarah then out at the guests. “Thank you, Major General Casey, former choir boy and present-day hero, for a heartfelt song. Welcome everyone to the joining of two incredible people. Sarah Lisa Walker and Charles Irving Bartowski. I haven’t known them long. However, I’ve known them long enough to realize that no greater love can be found between two people. Except of course, the love I have for The First Lady.” The guests let out a collective “AWWWW”, and Joyce blushes.
“At the risk of embarrassing Chuck, I want to relate a bit of our first meeting. I had just met them when Chuck threatened to kick my ass because I was being less than polite to Sarah.” The group gasps. “Relax, I deserved it. Thank God, I have Secret Service protection.” The crowd laughs.
“I’m not sure when it happened, it may have been that moment. But, at some point I grew to have an incredible respect for this man. It’s no small thing that he was willing to be shot to protect the honor of the woman he loves. That respect grew into much more. I’m honored to call Chuck Bartowski my friend.
When I met Sarah, I was immediately in awe of her. I had heard so much about this brave, capable lady. I had pictured a rough and tumble woman. I had no idea she would be so lovely, so caring, and I might add, lots of fun. Joyce and I instantly wanted to know her better.
I might also mention that these two had the audacity to say no to the President of the United States.” Chuck and Sarah both shrug. “I’m still wondering why I’m officiating at their wedding instead of visiting them in prison.” Everyone laughs.
“They explained that their devotion to duty had kept them apart long enough. I not only understood, but I also applauded their commitment to each other.
Now, I have two great sons, so I can’t say that Chuck is like the son I always wanted. I’m very proud of my boys and love them deeply. So, Chuck just gets to become a member of the family posse.
But Sarah… Joyce and I have no daughters, as such, we’ve chosen to claim you. My lovely wife has fretted for years that she wouldn’t have a daughter to plan a wedding with. Our sons don’t seem to be in a big rush to give us grandchildren.” The crowd laughs.
“You gave her much joy sharing your special day with her, with us. Now the country has you to thank. Because of you, I’m forced to run for office again. I’ll need the job to pay for this thing.” The room breaks into laughter. “Sarah, you, and Chuck are family. Today and forever.
Sarah and Chuck have chosen to say their vows to each other in a vain attempt to keep me from making a long-winded speech. It may be the first time they’ve failed at a mission.” The room breaks into laughter. “Sarah, whenever you’re ready, please.”
Sarah takes Chuck’s hand in hers, “Oh God! There are no words that can tell you how I feel about you. My life has not been average. Through the years I’ve lived I’ve had so many adventures. Working with my father, my previous job, the many partners I’ve worked with. The places I’ve traveled to. All of them adventures. But there’s one adventure I never had, not once. The adventure that comes with loving with a full heart, the adventure of having a home. That was… until I started the greatest adventure of my life. That began the day I met the most wonderful, smartest, bravest, most handsome man ever.”
Sarah reaches up and wipes a tear from her eye. “Chuck, the day I met you, my life truly began. The life I’d always wanted but thought I could never have. Chuck you are my home. I love you deeply, overwhelmingly, with every fiber of my being. Chuck you are more than the love of my life. You are my life. Charles Irving Bartowski will you be my home, today, tomorrow and for the rest of my life and beyond.”
“I will.” He wipes away a tear as Ellie hands Sarah the wedding band and she slips it on his finger.
Chuck starts to speak. It comes out as a croaking sound. He clears his throat and stares into Sarah’s eyes. “In a galaxy far, far away lived a princess. She was by far the most beautiful, intelligent, brave woman in the entire universe. A woman who knew just how to fulfill a nerd’s fantasy.” Sarah smiles. “In another universe lived a man, nothing too special about him, other than he was wallowing in a pool of self-pity.
One day there was a cosmic calamity and the two universes collided. It was an explosive collision. The clash released a deafening sound and a light so bright he was dazed, confused, scared. When his vision cleared, he was dazzled by the woman standing in front of him. Her glow eclipsed the sun itself. He had little hope that a celestial entity like you would want someone like him. Princess you were so far out of reach of a man like him, a simple nerd.
However, your beauty, your intelligence, your bravery filled his senses with something… something incredible. You asked him to trust you. You filled him with purpose. You protected him. You taught him that he could be brave, that he could be smart, that he had value. That he might someday be worthy of you.
He learned to trust you. He fought hard. He vanquished foes. Defeated obstacles. Confronted his personal demons. You always supported him while he remained true to his principles. Then one day, after many trials and tribulations, we knew that we were meant to be together.
Sarah Lisa Walker, You fulfill all of my fantasies. My heart swells at the sight of you. Your voice takes me to a place where dreams are born. Your eyes… your eyes take me to a place I never want to leave. Will you share a heart with me. Will you allow me to be your home? Will you allow me to dedicate my life to your happiness, your safety? Will you allow me to love you with everything I am? Please, may I be your hero.” As Boris, “Vill you allow that I vill suck no other toes but yours, forever and a day?”
Sarah is weeping openly. She laughs through her tears. “I will.” Morgan hands Chuck the ring, and he slides it onto Sarah’s finger. As Chuck slides the ring on her finger he looks into her eyes. “I love you.”
She smiles. “I know.” Chuck returns her smile.
Frank nods and smiles, “As President of the Unites States of America I am issuing an executive order.” He reaches down to pick up and read a framed document.
“NOW, THEREFORE, I President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim this date, as a National Day of celebration. Be it known that on this day Sarah Lisa Walker and Charles Irving Bartowski are joined as one. The people assembled are encouraged to share in the love and lives of this wonderful couple. In addition, it is ordered that all present will support and encourage them. so long as they are together.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this day the fifteenth, in this the month of April and in this year of two thousand and fifteen.” He stops reading and sets the document down.
“This marriage can only be broken by another Executive Order. At which point one or both participants will be committed to an institution because they would be insane to destroy this wonderful union.” The crowd laughs. As President of the United States, I now declare you to be husband and wife.
Now, You may kiss to seal this joining.” The crowd laughs. Chuck takes Sarah in his arms, dips her, and kisses his wife. A huge cheer goes up.
Chuck takes Sarah by the hand and as they head up the aisle to the sound of applause Casey begins to sing.
Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by
You know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good I’m feeling good
Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom on a tree
You know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun, you know what I mean, don’t you know
Butterflies all havin’ fun, you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done, that’s what I mean
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me
For me
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Oh, freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day It’s a new life
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
It’s a new life
For us
And we’re feeling good we’re feeling good We feel so good We feel so good.
Chuck and Sarah turn, she throws Casey a kiss as they run out of the room. He smiles. Secret Service agents are waiting to escort them to the Lincoln Bedroom.
The Lincoln Bedroom
The pair feel as if they’re floating on air. When they arrive, the door closes leaving them alone. Sarah whirls around. She pulls Chuck in for a kiss that’s filled with passion and love. She stops kissing him and still holding his head in her hands. “I love you, Chuck Bartowski. I love everything about you. I love how you love me, how you love others. Most of all I love how you make me love. Your vows to me were the most beautiful words I’ve ever heard. Now, it’s time for your wedding present.”
Sarah steps back and slowly unbuttons her gown from the bottom up, When she reaches the top button, she reaches up and pulls the hood down. Then gripping the two sides of the collar she slowly opens the gown.
Chuck gasps as he takes in the sight before him. Sarah is wearing a half cup bra, garter belt, stockings, and stiletto heels, all white, nothing else. “Chuck did you bring protection?” Chuck nods. “Good husband, now throw it away, we won’t be needing that anymore. It’s time for you to give me my wedding present.”
Sarah slowly steps up to her husband. She kisses him as she peels off his tuxedo jacket. “Do you like your present Baby?”
Chuck nods as he drops the jacket to the floor. “Best present ever.”
“Which part do you like the best?” Chuck moans as Sarah slowly unbuttoning his shirt, kisses his chest with soft butterfly kisses. “What,
Sweetheart, I couldn’t hear you? Do you want me to stop?” She starts to lick his left nipple as her hands unbutton his pants with a nimbleness born from years of knife handling.
She moves to his right side as he groans “Uh, uh. Never, I never want you to stop.”
“You know what I want for my wedding gift, don’t you?”
Chuck puts his arms around her and holds her tight. He lifts her chin and bends his neck to kiss her. “Uh huh, you want to make John crazy by making another Bartowski.”
Sarah laughs, “Only my husband would say it that way, but yeah.”
Later
Chuck gets up and reaches for his clothes, “Hon, people are waiting for us. We really need to get out there.”
Sarah is lying on the large bed, disheveled, her hair wild, splayed across the pillow. She puts her arms behind her head, clearly not in a rush. “Mmmm, I suppose. I just made love to my husband in the Lincoln Bedroom in the White House. Tell me Hon are we dreaming? Did I just marry the love of my life in front of our whole family and all our friends? Did some bad guys drug us and I’m having a wonderful dream?”
Chuck lies back down and takes her in his arms. “I don’t care if we’re dreaming. As long as we’re doing it together.”
Sarah rolls over and kisses him. “Don’t worry about that tux, I brought something more comfortable for you to wear. I plan on dancing your gorgeous butt off. It’s hanging in the closet.”
Chuck gets up to open the closet and pulls out a hanging suit bag. He unzips it to reveal a Han Solo costume. He smiles. Sarah smiles back. “It’s a toy gun, I’ve already cleared it with the Secret Service. Wait till you see what I’m wearing. How’d I do, did I get Hubby’s fantasy right?”
Chuck drops the clothes on a chair and jumps on the bed taking Sarah in his arms. “Baby, you got my fantasy right on day one. All my fantasies are great as long as you’re in them.”
“Chuck, when we get back from our honeymoon, you’re going to write a book called How to Say the Right thing to Your Wife, Every time. I’m going to publish it and make a fortune. Do you want to see what I’m wearing for the reception?”
Chuck gets up and offers his hand to help Sarah up. She stands up and jumps into his arms. “You know we could sneak out and head to our honeymoon right now.”
“We could, but then we could never come back. Our family and friends would put a bounty on our heads. Plus I really want them all to see my first dance with my wife. We didn’t get to do that at our first, first wedding. I picked the perfect song for our first dance. It tells our story. I hope you don’t mind I picked a few songs that I believe have meaning to me, to us.
“Fine, I’ll do it. Your taste in music has never disappointed me. But now you have to make love to me twice tonight.” She walks to the closet and pulls out another suit bag.
“Damn Sarah why do you insist on punishing me that way.” He grabs her, pulling her into his arms. “I was hoping for three times.”
Sarah steps back and unzips the bag showing Chuck the sexy Princess Leia dress with a slit up to the hip. “Now, I think you’re just bragging, but maybe this will help motivate you.”
Chuck whistles, “Lady, you are playing with fire. I have the best wife ever. I don’t know where we’re going on our honeymoon, but I do know you’re going to be too weak to walk.” The couple clean up and get dressed.
Opening the door they find two Secret Service Agents waiting for them. One of the agents looks them over and smiles. “Congratulations. May the force be with you. The president asked us to escort you to the reception.” He lifts his arm and talks into his sleeve. “Dynamic Duo on the move,
ETA 3 minutes.”
A/N Okay there you have it. Charah finally married in front of family and friends. I hope you enjoyed Casey’s singing. I know he had a blast doing it. He’s thinking of creating a Las Vegas show called the “Singing General”. I’ll let you know when tickets go on sale.
I went back through and attempted to find all of the people who were kind enough to send me a review so you could be included. If I missed you, my sincere apologies, it was inadvertent. I appreciate all the support I’ve gotten. As of this writing I’ve gotten over 780 reviews for AHT. Wow my mind is blown.
I’ve been asked who was on Chuck’s secret phone. I’ve dropped hints in previous chapters. But if you don’t know by now you haven’t watched the show. I’ll bet if you go back now, you’ll see the clues.
